WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOME JUICERS AND COLD-PRESS JUICERS?

This is one question that we get quite often from our customers. Rather they are shopping for a juicer for their home, or simply just curious about our process. Even though there are pretty big differences between the two, we still offer both.

 

When juicing at home or ordering a juice on the spot at Ruby Jean's, you may here the term "Centrifugal Juicer". This is because the juicer typically utilizes a fast-spinning metal blade that spins against a mesh filter, separating juice from flesh via centrifugal force. The juice and pulp are then separated into different containers. The problem with centrifugal juicers is that the fast-spinning metal blade generates heat, which destroys some of the enzymes in the fruits and vegetables you’re juicing. The heat also oxidizes those nutrients, rendering less nutritious juice than a cold-press juicer. Another difference, is consumption. When making your own, or ordering on the spot, you must consume the juice right away. If not, the juice begins to break down quickly separating in minutes after extraction.

 

With a cold-press juicer, the process is a little more involved, but the results are beyond beneficial. We first put the entire produce into a food processor and then into the cold-press juicer. The juicer then presses the fruits and vegetables until it cannot be pressed anymore, creating as much juice as possible and keeping the fresh ingredients' nutrients intact. Because no heat is produced, all living enzymes are saved which is best for optimum health. It's quite surprising, but in each of our 16oz bottles, you are receiving about 3 pounds of produce, which meets your daily dosage of fruits and veggies. Once the juice is made or purchased, you'll need to keep the fresh juice refrigerated, but there is no separation and can be stored up to 4 days.

 

Besides the visual and nutritional difference, both yield the perfect alternative to any fatty foods. You may not partake in a juice cleanse, but adding fruits and vegetables into your daily diet is super important. So if you are using a centrifugal juicer or a cold-press juicer, you are winning either way.
