How to cleanse
With any new regimen, there are very important instructions to caring for your body. Whether this is your first cleanse or your 20th, there are helpful tips you can mind to fully support your cleanse. No two people are alike, so remember to pick and choose what works best for you. Listen to your body!
Before your cleanse
Begin preparing two days prior to cleansing. Preparation allows your body to slowly ease itself into cleansing, and decreases your chance of side effects.
Avoid processed foods! Eliminate as much meat, dairy, soy, wheat, sodium and sugar from your diet as possible.
Slowly remove caffeine and other stimulants like coffee and soda from your diet. This can help reduce the chances of headaches during your cleanse.
We recommend limiting your diet to fresh fruits and raw vegetables as much as possible just prior to cleansing.
During your cleanse
Start your morning off with the 1st juice as soon as possible, and enjoy your remaining juices 2-3 hours apart, totaling 6 juices per day.
Keep your juices well-refrigerated throughout the day. If you’re on the go, carry the juices in an insulated bag.
Drink plenty of water to support your cleanse, or enjoy non-caffeinated herbal tea for added antioxidants.
If you feel the need to eat, then please do! Make sure to eat clean, raw veggies/fruits or treat yourself to a handful of raw, unsalted almonds or half of a fresh avocado – these healthy snacks are loaded with clean fats and will help keep you sustained while further supporting the cleansing of your system.
After your cleanse
Ease your body back into eating solid foods. Start with lightly steamed vegetables, fresh fruits, healthy nuts and other sources of protein.
Begin reincorporating your typical food groups one at a time and pay close attention to how they make your body feel.
Don’t be surprised if you find yourself craving more fresh juice!
Focus on living a plant-forward lifestyle, and continue eliminating as many processed foods from your diet as possible!
Recommended Daily Consumption
Remember to drink water in between servings. The juice is meant to replace your food, not your water.

“This cleanse was the perfect jump start to getting back on a clean healthy overall diet. Once I made it past the first 2 days it was smooth sailing.”
Laurie
“I did the cleanse with my daughters. We lost 4-6 pounds and never really felt hungry. We slept better than we have in a long time and weren't even grouchy! Glad we had this experience to help get us on track! Staff was amazing, helpful, and informative!”
Janet
“I had started down a path of unhealthy eating and wanted to cleanse, to start fresh. I was a little hesitant to start a juice cleanse because green juices sounded nasty and beets are not high up on my list of ‘likes’. But I bit the bullet, committed, and ordered a 3 day cleanse.”

Ruby Jean's Cleanses are naturally free of common allergens, such as dairy, soy, wheat, and gluten. If you are allergic or think you might be, to any fruits or veggies, please do not consume them during your cleanse. -
Cold-pressed juices do contain natural sugars, but are not the same as added refined sugars, and are significantly healthier. We do, however, recommend keeping your juices about 80% vegetable and 20% fruit. If you are currently managing your sugar intake due to a medical condition, please consult your physician.
-
We highly advise to chat with your doctor if you are deciding to take the leap. Once you do, aim for a maximum of 1 fruit per juice, adding more protein in your juices, and drink at least 64 ounces of water each day.
-
That is not an issue at all. There is absolutely no gluten or dairy in our juices.
-
Fruit and vegetables contain two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble forms. Even though the juicing process extracts the insoluble fiber (fibers that remain in the pulp, which helps bulk up stools and regulates bowel movements), the soluble fibers are left and processed as liquid (which break down in water and are passed through your system) Since these fibers are processed through the body, your digestion system gets a nice little break, and in turn resets your body of toxins.
-
Protein is available in many of the plant-based foods that are used in our juices - spinach, kale, romaine lettuce, and carrots to name a few. They contain a surprisingly high amount of protein. In fact, some juices (especially green juices) have about 4 to 5 grams per 12 oz serving. However, if you choose to juice cleanse for more than 15 days, it is recommended to add in more protein other than juice, ex. a handful of nuts.
-
With the nutritional needs during pregnancy and breastfeeding, we highly advise not to to cleanse during those times. Always consult your doctor before making a decision that may impact your or your child’s health.
-
Your juice cleanse will come with 5 juices per day and ideally you should drink one every 2 hours. But listen to your body and drink when you feel hungry. Let your body tell you when to eat. If you don't finish all 5 within the day, don't worry. Save the extra for your other days, if you need it. Also be sure to drink plenty of water in between each juice.
-
No. In fact, you should wean yourself off of caffeine altogether a few days prior to starting your cleanse. It is very important to only drink your juice and water, to make sure you are not taking in any unwanted toxins that you're working so hard to get rid of.
-
Within the first few days, it's very common to experience headaches. It may stem from a lack of caffeine, or the effects of ridding toxins, and lack of solid food. Your body will overcome this, but please feel free to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen, but be careful with Excedrin, as it contains caffeine. If you're not a fan of medication, try another juice, moderate exercise or getting some extra shut eye.
-
Yes, it’s normal and nothing to worry about. As your taking in more fruits and vegetables, ex. more greens, your stool will take on that color. Your body is absorbing all of the chlorophyll, vitamins, and nutrients, so the excess gets passed through your body.
-
Increase your electrolyte intake to reduce fatigue, foggy thoughts, and headaches. Coconut water is an excellent source of electrolytes.
-
Same as any physical activity question you may have, please consult your doctor first. But from what we've experienced, exercising can be done, but take it very slowly. Especially in the first 3 days. Your body is adjusting and may feel weak within those first few days. So don't force anything that will get you hurt. Once your body is acclimated with your current juice diet, introduce walking, yoga and lighter weights etc. Be sure to drink at least half of a juice beforehand and finish the rest, or drink 1 whole juice after. Listen to your body and do what's best for you.
-
The weight that you could possibly lose during the juice cleanse will vary from person to person. On average, one can lose 5 to 7 pounds a week at first. But this amount will vary based on how much weight you have to lose. Your weight loss will probably be a combination of fat, muscle, and water, but staying active and drinking enough juice and water will help to preserve muscle mass and promote more fat loss instead.
-
You could if you return back to your old eating habits. Cleansing could be a great way to get over that frustrating plateau or break some cravings. This allows you to get into a routine, once finished, and continue to eat very clean after your cleanse. We even suggest doing shorter cleanses more often to help you achieve your goals.
