CLEANSING FACTS AND QUESTIONS

We've listened to your questions and concerns, and have gathered the most popular questions below. If you don't see your question, please email us at info@rubyjeansjuicery.com. We'd be happy to help.

Q: WHEN AM I ABLE TO PICK UP MY JUICES FROM THE STORE?

A: Once you submit your order from the site, or call into the store, we will have your order prepared for pickup in the same day, if our business demand allows. If you need a specified day to pickup please let us know in your order.

Q: HOW MANY FRUITS AND VEGGIES AM I GETTING IN EACH JUICE?

A: In each juice, you are receiving 3-5 lbs of raw produce. Either a mixture of fruits and veggies, or all veggies based on the recipe.

Q: WHAT IF I HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES?
A: Ruby Jean's Cleanses are naturally free of common allergens, such as dairy, soy, wheat, and gluten. If you are allergic or think you might be, to any fruits or veggies, please do not consume them during your cleanse. Please let us know of any allergies you may have so that we can customize your cleanse.

Q: AREN'T JUICES TOO SUGARY?
A: Cold-pressed juices do contain natural sugars, but are not the same as added refined sugars, and are significantly healthier. We do, however, recommend keeping your juices about 80% vegetable and 20% fruit. If you are currently managing your sugar intake due to a medical condition, please consult your physician.

Q: I'M A DIABETIC, SHOULD I SKIP THE FRUIT?

A: Same as the question above, we highly advise to chat with your doctor if you are deciding to take the leap. Once you do, aim for a maximum of 1 fruit per juice, adding more protein in your juices and drink at least 64 ounces of water each day.

Q: WHAT IF I AM GLUTEN AND/OR LACTOSE?

A: That is not an issue at all. There is absolutely no gluten or dairy in our juices.

Q: HOW WILL I GET FIBER WHILE JUICING?

A: Fruit and vegetables contain two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble forms. Even though the juicing process extracts the insoluble fiber (fibers that remain in the pulp, which helps bulk up stools and regulates bowel movements), the soluble fibers are left and processed as liquid (which break down in water and are passed through your system) Since these fibers are processed through the body, your digestion system gets a nice little break, and in turn resets your body of toxins.

Q: WHERE WILL I GET MY PROTEIN WHILE JUICING?

A: Protein is available in many of the plant-based foods that are used in our juices - spinach, kale, romaine lettuce, and carrots to name a few. They contain a surprisingly high amount of protein. In fact, some juices (especially green juices) have about 4 to 5 grams per 12 oz serving. However, if you choose to juice cleanse for more than 15 days, it is recommended to add in more protein other than juice, ex. a handful of nuts.

Q: CAN I DO A JUICE CLEANSE WHILE PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

A: With the nutritional needs during pregnancy and breastfeeding, we highly advise not to, during those times.

Q: HOW MUCH JUICE SHOULD I DRINK DURING MY JUICE CLEANSE?

A: Your juice cleanse will come with 5 juices per day and ideally you should drink one every 2 hours. But listen to your body and drink when you feel hungry. Let your body tell you when to eat. If you don't finish all 5 within the day, don't worry. Save the extra for your other days, if you need it. Also be sure to drink plenty of water in between each juice.

Q: CAN I STILL DRINK COFFEE DURING?

A: No. In fact, you should wean yourself off of caffeine altogether a few days prior to starting your cleanse. It is very important to only drink your juice and water, to make sure you are not taking in any unwanted toxins that you're working so hard to get rid of.

Q: I HAVE FINISHED MY 6 JUICES FOR THE DAY, BUT STILL HUNGRY. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

A: It is very acceptable to introduce fresh fruit and vegetables, and or a handful of nuts throughout the day to help conquer the extra hunger pains. Alternate between juices or consume at the same time. It will help you feel full and you'll receive more fiber and protein.

Q: I'M EXPERIENCING HEADACHES DURING MY CLEANSE, WHAT CAN I DO?

A: Within the first few days, it's very common to experience headaches. It may stem from a lack of caffeine, or the effects of ridding toxins, and lack of solid food. Your body will overcome this, but please feel free to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen, but be careful with Excedrin, as it contains caffeine. If you're not a fan of medication, try another juice, moderate exercise or getting some extra shut eye.

Q: MY STOOL/URINE IS AN ODD COLOR. IS THAT NORMAL?

A: Yes, it’s normal and nothing to worry about. As your taking in more fruits and vegetables, ex. more greens, your stool will take on that color. Your body is absorbing all of the chlorophyll, vitamins, and nutrients, so the excess gets passed through your body.

Q: I FEEL WEAK AND HAVE LOW ENERGY. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

A: Increase your electrolyte intake to reduce fatigue, foggy thoughts, and headaches. Coconut water is an excellent source of electrolytes.

Q: CAN I EXERCISE WHILE ON THE CLEANSE?

A: Same as any physical activity question you may have, please consult your doctor first. But from what we've experienced, exercising can be done, but take it very slowly. Especially in the first 3 days. Your body is adjusting and may feel weak within those first few days. So don't force anything that will get you hurt. Once your body is acclimated with your current juice diet, introduce walking, yoga and lighter weights etc. Be sure to drink at least half of a juice beforehand and finish the rest, or drink 1 whole juice after. Listen to your body and do what's best for you.

Q: HOW MUCH COULD I LOSE DURING MY JUICE CLEANSE?

A: The weight that you could possibly lose during the juice cleanse will vary from person to person. On average, one can lose 5 to 7 pounds a week at first. But this amount will vary based on how much weight you have to lose. Your weight loss will probably be a combination of fat, muscle, and water, but staying active and drinking enough juice and water will help to preserve muscle mass and promote more fat loss instead.

Q: COULD I GAIN ALL OF THE WEIGHT I JUST LOST AFTER I'M DONE?

A: You could if you return back to your old eating habits. Cleansing could be a great way to get over that frustrating plateau or break some cravings. This allows you to get into a routine, once finished, and continue to eat very clean after your cleanse. We even suggest doing shorter cleanses more often to help you achieve your goals.

*Please consult your doctor before cleansing if you are diabetic, pregnant/nursing, under 18 years of age, or are under the continued care of a physician for any reason.
